From Zuklefli Salleh

MECCA, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Saudi Arabia has announced that Sunday will be the Day of Wuquf and Monday, the Aidiladha.

Arab News daily quoted a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency, that the Supreme Judicial Council had said that Saturday was Zul Hijjah 1, and that there were 30 days in Zul Qaedah "because the council did not receive any report of moon sighting."

Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have congregated in this Holy City, including more than 20,000 from Malaysia, among them Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

No official figures have been announced yet on the total number of pilgrims for this season but it is estimated that three million would encamp in the 10.4 sq km Arafah, about 22km from here.
Ahmad Zahid, who visited several accommodation facilities for the Malaysian pilgrims today, advised them to look after their health so that they would be able to perform the Wuquf, which is the apex of the Haj pilgrimage.

Tabung Haji officials said the Haj agency had made preparations for an orderly movement of about 26,000 Malaysian pilgrims to Arafah on Saturday using buses arranged by the Saudi Arabia Haj agency, Muassasah.
